Ideas...

CONCEPT ONE - FANTASY WORLD:

Presenting the college as a creative environment.

Idea One - From Bland to Grand - Turn a relatively dull looking area (Epsom / UCCA Epsom) into a grand attraction that you would like to visit and study at!
(imagery: Epsom / college buildings)

Idea Two - Venture inside the college - Virtual tour of the college (reception / library / canteen / MA room etc... outside ares?)
Format: photography - 360 degree views.
Navigation: Keyboard navigation (emerging trend)
Possible additional illustrations.

Idea Three - Epsom - use elements of Epsom Town Centre (Clock Tower / Ashley centre / Epsom playhouse / Epsom racecourse / Ebbisham centre/library)
Does this promote Epsom instead of UCCA MA?

Idea Four - Video - Intro: Journey to UCCA Epsom.
Film the journey from train station to college - speed up footage.
Imagery: Present video on T.V with walking legs. As you enter the college the screen goes blank reveling the front end of the website.
Skip function possible.

Idea Five - A world of creativity:
UCCA Epsom is a typical looking college and a rather ordinary place, but if you look further it is a place full of creativity and ideas. Creative minds working constantly to find the best solution to a task.
How could this be portrayed?
Using photography display a photograph of specific areas around the college. (there could be the option of a 360 tour of the area) At the bottom of the screen there could be a button in the form of a view master or binoculars that, when clicked, enables you to look through and reveal the creativity happening all around (in the form of illustrations... take a photograph and transform it into anything imaginable!!!)

This button could symbolize your 'minds eye':

Minds Eye: The phrase "mind's eye" refers to the human ability for visual perception, imagination, visualization, and memory, or, in other words, one's ability to "see" things with the mind.

How could this be done?

There are five main links within the website and five members of our group... alicate an area of the college that represents the specific link to each member of the group to illustrate... done!

Website links - College areas:
Gallery - Library? (gallery could be presented in book form)
MA Forum - Canteen?
MA Courses - MA room?
MA Events - Lecture theatre?
MA Blog - Outside area?

Into could be a video (from the perspective of a pair of binoculars etc) and show the journey to college using creative imagery... 'inspiration can come from anywhere'

Idea Six - Hand made world.

Create the college using hand made materials such as cardboard and fabric.
This concept relates to the idea that it is a highly creative place where anything is possible.

Apperence: After discussing a variety of visual media, we decided on having two seperate visual approaches. We decided to stick with the idea of the images appearing to be man-made and therefore settled on using cardboard and fabric

The fabric material could be instantly related to the fashion side of the MA courses, whereas the cardboard material could relate to the rest of the creative courses such as graphic design. This would therefore give the user an option of the websites appearence ofter referred to as a "skin"

Skins: In computing, skins may be associated with themes as custom graphical appearances (GUIs) that can be applied to certain software and websites in order to suit the different tastes of different users. This increases the user experience.

CONCEPT TWO - TYPOGRAPHY:

Word Puzzles: Stimulate the mind - Mind training

- Word search
- Crossword

MOTION TYPOGRAPHY FINISHED by ~Hairman on deviantART

(are you) the creative type...

Brain: Creative thinking (the creative mind)

World: Universal language (creation + innovation keeps the world turning)

Intro - Using typography to create an image: Use typography in motion to create a large image such as a brain or a world map. The information used could be in the form of an article or a made up piece of text...
-The final image could turn into a full stop that pans out to reveal the main page of the website.

Keyboard navigation: Use keyboard to navigate through the site (similar to a site map)

Type path / journey : follow a line created by type. This could reveal / create some interesting screen layouts. A similar example can be seen on the BBC title sequence for a programme called 'The Real hustle'.
